UPDATE 2 – A snowfall warning has been issued. Approximately 13 cm of snow is expected, according to the American forecast model, which PJXM uses more often than our reliable Canadian counterparts. Environment Canada suggests 10 cm. Once the snow moves out the weather pattern will change once again and clear skies with very cold temperatures at night are expected beginning mid-week.

UPDATE – Very cold night time temperatures could happen by Wednesday night lasting until at least the upcoming weekend. Down to the minus 40s. Snow accumulation is still pegged for Monday evening until Tuesday night. 15 to 20 cm.

The upcoming weather pattern is going to change (No Way!) and with it comes much needed snow. The latest forecast is suggesting some accumulation of snow that will finally stick to the ground here in Prince George as the temperature is about to drop to the minus 20s and 30s, if the forecast pans out that is.

The time has arrived where we might have to plug in our vehicles or they could very well not start come Thursday morning following a bitter cold minus 33 degrees during the night on Wednesday and early morning Thursday. That is cold… simply because, well, it was a warm autumn season and old man winter began on December 21, 2023, like it does every year. Winter season was not late, it’s right on time!

On Monday, the Prince George region could receive between 15 to 20 cm of snow. This will indeed change as we get closer to that day, so more on that Sunday.

In the meantime, this message is just a Hey! to get the shovels, blowers, poofy coats, toques, gloves and boots ready to have some winter cheer. Put those shoes away! I bet all the people who returned the winter fun (sleds) back to the stores after Christmas will soon be back to rebuy new ones. Costco sure had plenty of that type of fun being returned by customers on January 4, 2024.
