Police are asking for witnesses along with photos or video following a serious incident on New Year’s Eve in Smithers…
Police say just after midnight on January 1, 2024, officers responded to a report of multiple burn victims on the 4500 block of Henry Rd.
Initial investigation indicated that 30-40 people were gathered around a bonfire when something was thrown into the fire resulting in an explosion. Several people were injured as a result. The injuries sustained have been described as minor to significant burns, however, none are believed to be life threatening.
All required medical attention and were taken to hospital.
Smithers RCMP is seeking witnesses, or people who may have taken pictures or video during the incident.
