Police in Williams Lake and the BC Major Crime Section are currently investigating the death of a child which occurred on Friday…

Police say on December 8, 2023, members of the Williams Lake RCMP responded to the hospital after a 32-year-old man attended the hospital with a deceased infant. A second child with non life-threatening injuries was located and transported to hospital for medical assessment. The 32-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman were arrested and have subsequently been released.

This appears to be an isolated incident with no risk to the public. The Ministry of Children and Family Development have been engaged and the investigation remains ongoing.

The BC RCMP Major Crime Section has assumed conduct of the investigation. If anyone has information on this matter, they are asked to contact Williams Lake RCMP at 250-392-6211.
