Police say on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 8:10 PM, BC Highway Patrol was conducting traffic enforcement as part of the “Light Up The Province Campaign” targeting impaired drivers on the Alaska Highway.

A vehicle was stopped and the officer recognized the driver from an interaction with police a few days prior. The driver, a 19-year-old man displayed signs of impairment and, after an initial investigation, it was believed that the driver was impaired.
A search of the driver yielded approximately 25 grams of suspected cocaine and a large sum of cash as well as property often found in drug trafficking. The driver was arrested.
The other passengers in the vehicle were identified and one man was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants. He was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
