The City of Prince George are advising motorists there will be a closure at the intersection of 5th Ave. and Ospika Blvd. tomorrow, November 29.
The closure is due to an excavation in the northbound lane where the Utility Operations division will be replacing a water system valve. All traffic heading north will be detoured from the intersection. Southbound traffic (heading down Ospika towards 15th Ave.) will be open.

There will be two detour routes:
- Northbound traffic from Ospika Blvd. S: Turn west onto 5th Ave., north on Brigade Dr., and east on Pioneer Ave. to continue onto Ospika Blvd. N.
- Motorists wishing to turn right onto Ospika from 5th: Use Ruggles St. and turn west on 3rd Ave. to continue onto Ospika Blvd. N.
The detour is expected to be in place from 6:30am to 6:30pm.
The water system valve was installed in 1962 and is currently leaking. The leaking is causing ice and slippery conditions at the intersection, which is why the urgent replacement work is taking place.
There will be no pedestrian access to the northside intersection crossing during construction. The City is asking residents to exercise caution around the work zone and pay attention to signage and directions from the construction crew.
