A Fort St. John man is facing several charges following a report of a person brandishing a pistol on Tuesday…
Police say on November 14, 2023, at 1:49 PM, officers arrived at a strip mall in the area of 100th Street and 98A Ave and located a man inside a business matching the description given while enroute to the scene.

With consideration for the safety of the public, officers entered the business and conducted a high-risk take down at gun point with the suspect. During the search of the suspect, a metal 1911 type pistol was located. The pistol was later determined to be a pellet gun.
Officers identified the man as Raymond Peterkin, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Peterkin was arrested on his outstanding warrant as well as for Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and for Breach of Release Order as Peterkin was on a condition not to possess any weapons.
“With some pellet and airsoft guns it is very difficult to differentiate between replica and real as many are created to look like the real deal,
”Β said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for the Fort St John RCMP.Β “Carrying and displaying any firearm in public raises significant safety concerns from the public and police which creates an unnecessary and potentially dangerous situations especially after the recent shots fired incidents Fort St John has experienced.
“
Peterkin was transported to the detachment and held for court where he was remanded until November 15, 2023 and released with a future court date set for November 20, 2023.
