The Prince George RCMP along with the North District Emergency Response Team headed to a home in the 5300 block of Buckhorn Lake Road to arrest a man known to them for violent criminal offences. At around 10:30 AM, officers met up with officials at the local elementary school in Buckhorn and placed the school in a hold-and-secure position until the man was arrested. Police say it was out of an abundance of caution to place the school in a lockdown due to the seriousness of the situation.
Shortly after 12 pm, the male suspect was arrested without incident and the hold-and-secure was lifted at the school a short time after.
The name of the suspect has not been released at this time. The investigation continues.
