The Whitehorse RCMP along with Yukon Wildland Fire are asking for the public’s help in locating stolen wildfire equipment taken from the Wildland Fire headquarters in Whitehorse…
Police say sometime during the overnight on October 17 and October 18, 2023, a suspect(s) cut a chain on a gate that secured the wildland fire compound in Whitehorse and used a vehicle to take a flatbed trailer and a total of six barrels of gasoline. The trailer is specifically modified with large tanks used to store and mix firefighting solutions and should be easily identifiable as being a specialized piece of equipment.

Two ATVs have also been stolen recently from the same Wildland Fire headquarters. This theft is believed to have occurred overnight on October 17, 2023.
“Police work closely with our public safety partners including Wildland Fire,” says Sgt. Brent Edwards, Whitehorse RCMP Operations NCO. “It’s disappointing to know that their ability to respond efficiently and safely to fires could be impacted by this thoughtless theft.”
The equipment could make its way to BC along the Alaska Highway or Hwy 37 to Terrace.
