UPDATE 2 – Snow mixed with rain is now falling in parts of the BC Peace region. 5 cm is what’s expected. The system will move out of the area just after lunch. Please drive to the road conditions and shift into winter driving!

UPDATE – Rain and snow remains in the forecast for the Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, and Fort St. John regions beginning Saturday evening and ending Sunday afternoon. Up to 5 cm of snow is expected during the evening and overnight hours.
Snow is quite possible for the BC Peace region late Saturday night with up to 5 cm by Sunday afternoon for Fort St. John and Dawson Creek areas.
A pattern change is in the works and with that change it will bring snow and below freezing temperatures from Prince George up to Fort St. John for the next several days. Snow and cold weather is typical for this time of year and is not out of the ordinary.
However, it is to note that PJXM is warning motorists to shift into winter this weekend. Local highways in the North and South Peace regions around Dawson Creek could see the snow stick to the roadway causing poor road conditions. Take it easy and slow down on highways and local roads.
There is no major snow accumulation forecast for the Prince George region, just sunshine with chilly daytime and cold night time temperatures. Flurries may fall around the city on Monday.
Remember that winter tires or M+S are mandatory at this time of year along Highway 97 and the Alaska Highway.
Temperatures are set to rebound above freezing later in the week for Prince George but will remain below freezing for the BC Peace.
This forecast story will be updated on Saturday, October 21, 2023 and on Sunday, October 22, 2023.
