Two people were arrested Tuesday evening in Penticton following two attempted car-jackings on the same street…
Police say on October 17, 2023 at 6:00 pm, a resident of Killarney Street reported an unknown man and woman attempting to steal his vehicle. Both suspects fled after being confronted by the resident.
Not long after, officers received another report of an attempted car-jacking on Killarney Street in which a man and woman allegedly pointed a firearm at the driver with the intent of stealing the vehicle. The suspects had no luck in taking the vehicle from the driver and once again fled from the scene.
With assistance from the public, officers, supported by the Southeast District’s Emergency Response Team, and Police Dog Services, were successful in arresting a man and woman near Government Street and Carmi Avenue.
“Thankfully, no one was physically harmed during these disturbing incidents”, says Cpl. James Grandy. “With the immediate and effective deployment of policing resources, including officers from Summerland, the suspects were safely apprehended, along with a firearm.
A 48 year-old man and a 31 year-old woman, both area residents, are being held in custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
