On Friday, September 15, 2023, Prince George RCMP’s Street Crew Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on the 1400-block of Nation Crescent, where two people were believed to be trafficking illicit drugs.

Over of 130 grams of suspected fentanyl, 300 grams of suspected cocaine, 190 grams of suspected methamphetamine and more than $20,000 in cash was located and seized by police officers. Two men were arrested and released pending the charge approval process by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada.

“The public is often concerned when they hear police officers have released suspected drug traffickers without immediately forwarding charges. Due to the Jordan decision caselaw of 2016, police require time to compile a fulsome report which is then submitted to Public Prosecution Service of Canada for their review and charge approval,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
