UPDATE: There have been injuries reported in this bus rollover crash. Of the 30 people on the bus, at least 17 passengers required medical treatment for injuries sustained in the incident. Ambulances from Mackenzie and Prince George, along with an air ambulance were sent to the scene of the crash, which occurred just after 8am this morning.

Heavy rain along a forest service road becomes challenging and emergency crews were met with such challenges.

It is unclear at this time on the actual cause of the bus rollover.

If you are concerned for a loved one who was on the bus, you can contact 250-565-2000 for further information.

Original story below…

Emergency response teams from Prince George and Mackenzie are currently responding to a motor vehicle incident involving a charter bus, which occurred on the Firth Lake Forest Service Road near Hambone Road.

Initial reports estimate there are approximately 30 people on board the bus. It is unknown how many are injured, though no serious injuries have been currently reported.

β€œPrince George RCMP and Northern Health are currently working to get Northern Health Connections bus to the location to assist with transport of the wounded passengers. Efforts to reach the location have been made increasingly difficult with the early morning rain and the current road conditions, in addition to the distance from Prince George to the incident location,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

Seven ground ambulances from Prince George and Mackenzie, along with three BCEHS support units, and multiple frontline police officers have been dispatched to the location.

University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George has declared a Code Orange to support the response to the incident, and Northern Health is asking that area residents avoid the UHNBC emergency department for all but life-threatening emergency needs at this time.

Updates may be made as more information becomes available.
