UPDATE: Prince George RCMP is advising the public that the suspect being searched for earlier this afternoon has been arrested by police. Previous requests to avoid the UNBC Greenway and Forests for the World trail systems are now rescinded.

The Prince George RCMP is currently looking for a male suspect following a theft of vehicle occurrence. Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the male…

“The suspect we are looking for is wearing shorts and was last seen without a shirt on. He will likely look disheveled and have scratches on his face. We are asking the public not to approach the suspect as he may have a firearm in his possession, but instead to call 9-1-1 if anyone sees a person matching this description in the area where police are currently searching,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

Police officers are requesting that the public stay off of the UNBC Greenway and Forests for the World trails while police conduct their search. Investigators have reached out to UNBC administration to ensure the safety of the students and staff while the search is ongoing,

A Police Service Dog team and the RCMP helicopter, Air 3, are aiding in the investigation.
