UPDATE 2: AS OF 2:30 pm. Alaska Highway will be closed to traffic from Mile 74 Road to Beatton Airport Rd. It is expected to reopen to single lane at 4 pm. This is to allow controlled wildfire burns.

Motorists be advised that the Alaska Highway is CLOSED north of Fort St. John due to a wildfire. The highway is closed 27 km north of the city to 40 km south of Wonowon.
There is no detour.
If you need to access the Fort Nelson region and Yukon/Alaska, you can detour in Prince George using Highway 16 West to Terrace and use Highway 37 to get to the BC/Yukon border as the closure has an undetermined closure time.
