UPDATE: A Wind Warning has been issued for BC North as gusts up to 90 km/h are in the forecast for this afternoon and into the evening.

Wind gusts up to 80 km/h are also in the forecast for the *Prince George region beginning later this morning and lasting until the evening.

Strong wind gusts can knock down weak branches off trees and cause power outages.

*The Prince George region includes all outlying areas up to Mackenzie Junction to the north, south to Hixon, Bednesti to the west, and Purden Lake to the east.

Environment Canada is forecasting strong wind gusts up to 70 km/h for Sunday afternoon in the Prince George region…

The wind is expected to pick up from 50 km/h in the late morning, increasing to 70 km/h by the early afternoon. There’s a possibility of some thunderstorms in the region as well.

The system is expected to move out by the evening hours of Sunday.
