Police say the crash occurred Sunday morning west of Dawson Creek between Chetwynd and Groundbirch and involved two vehicles that had crashed head-on.
The lone driver of one of the vehicles was pronounced deceased at the scene and the lone driver of the other vehicle escaped with minor injuries and was taken to Dawson Creek Hospital for observation.
The highway was closed for approximately seven hours while the North Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services member examined the scene.
As the investigation continues, officers are investigating all possible causes of the crash, including impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
