Highway 97, in both directions. Vehicle incident between Suicide Hill Pullout and Sikanni Chief Rd (90 km north of Wonowon). Single lane alternating traffic. Monday Update: Nothing has changed since Sunday. Commercial vehicles under 15,000 kg MUST call the number below in Sunday’s update in order to proceed. As of 11 AM, August 28, 2022.
Sunday Update 2: Open to passenger vehicles, travel trailers and RV’s. The bridge remains closed to commercial traffic. Commercial vehicles 15,500 kg and under, call 250-774-6956 first. As of 3 PM August 28, 2022.
Sunday Update 1: The highway remains CLOSED to all commercial truck traffic. It is open to single lane alternating light traffic, including RVs. Keep updated using DriveBC.ca. Next update after 12 noon today. As of August 28, 2022. 9:39 AM.
Saturday Update 1: Remains CLOSED to all commercial truck traffic. Otherwise it is single lane alternating traffic for light vehicles. As of 10:50 AM. Sat Aug 27, 2022. Next update after 6 pm. Expect delays.
Friday Update 2: DriveBC is stating that the Alaska Highway is now single lane alternating for light traffic only. NO Commercial trucks. As of 8:10 PM, August 26, 2022. Next update for commercial traffic allowance will be at 10 AM Saturday August 27, 2022.

Motorists in the North Peace region be advised that the Alaska Highway is CLOSED in both directions at the Sikanni Chief bridge, south of Fort Nelson, due to a serious vehicle incident.
We are awaiting further information on the closure from DriveBC and will post those details in an update once available.
