FORT ST. JOHN, BC: One person has been arrested following an assault and house fire on the 269 Road Wednesday night…

Police say on February 9, 2022, at 9:10 PM, the Fort St. John RCMP received a report that a homeowner had been assaulted by armed intruders and the home was set on fire shortly after the assault.

Emergency services from Fort St. John and Charlie Lake attended the scene. Officers learned the suspects had fled the scene in the victims 2007 Chevy pickup.  

Peace Liard Police Dog Services and Fort St. John RCMP Forensic Identification Services attended to assist with the investigation.

Through continued investigational efforts, officers located the vehicle the suspects arrived at the property in and arrested a single person.

“The Fort St. John RCMP have full reason to believe that this is a targeted event,” said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for the Fort St. John RCMP. “We do not believe there is any further danger to the general public.”

No report on the severity of injuries to the victim in this case.
