PRINCE GEORGE, BC: On Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 5:46 PM, Prince George RCMP were called to the scene of a single vehicle crash on the Simon Fraser Bridge on Highway 97 in the city.
Upon arrival, police discovered that a pickup truck had collided with the guard rail on the bridge. It was suspected that the driver, a 47 year-old man was impaired and was arrested. He was later released for a court date in March 2022 and could face impaired driving charges.
“This crash happened at a busy time of the day when traffic can be heavy. This could have been much worse” said Cpl Madonna Saunderson, BC RCMP Communications. “There is never an excuse to drive while impaired and if you do, not only do you put yourself in danger, you potentially put others at risk.“
The driver was the lone occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash and there were no reports of injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
