MCBRIDE, BC: One person has died following a serious crash involving a commercial truck and a passenger bus on Highway 16 East of McBride Saturday afternoon…
Police say just before 1:30 PM on November 20, 2021, officers from the McBride RCMP and local fire service responded to the collision scene on Highway 16 near the Goat River Bridge.
In total, nine people were taken to hospital with injuries varying from minor to serious. One person was airlifted to UHNBC in Prince George in serious condition while several others were taken to area hospitals via ground ambulance. Police also mention a Good Samaritan had taken three additional people to local hospital in a personal vehicle. Sadly, the driver of the commercial truck was deceased.
Preliminary investigation reveals the commercial truck driver was headed east and had lost control of the vehicle striking the westbound bus. Both vehicles caught fire right after the collision.
Highway 16 remains CLOSED approximately 39 km east of McBride and could reopen around 2 AM Sunday.
