FRASER LAKE, BC: A serious crash on Highway 16 West has claimed the life of a woman…
Police say on November 16, 2021 at approximately 3:45 PM, Fraser Lake RCMP and Emergency Services responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 16 near Dry William Lake Road east of that community.
Upon arrival, it was determined that a head-on collision occurred between a westbound transport truck and an eastbound passenger vehicle. The lone occupant of the eastbound vehicle, a woman in her fifties, died at the scene. The driver of the transport truck sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.
BC Highway Patrol in Vanderhoof has assumed conduct of this investigation with assistance from the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service and the BC Coroners’ Service. The cause of the collision is not known at this time, however impairment has been ruled out.
Traffic on Highway 16 was backed up for hours while police investigated a serious crash. The backlog was cleared around 10 pm with the highway reopening just after 3 AM Wednesday morning. – DriveBC.ca
Highway 16 was closed for approximately 12 hours while the collision was investigated. It has since reopened.
