CHETWYND, BC: Two people are recovering in hospital following a serious crash in the Pine Pass on Friday afternoon…
Police say at 1:30 PM, the Chetwynd RCMP, the BC Ambulance and Chetwynd Fire Department all responded to a crash near the Lemoray mountain area of Highway 97, about 80 kilometers South of Chetwynd.
The driver, a 30 year-old woman, was extracted out of the vehicle using the jaws of life. Both the driver and her 49 year-old passenger suffered some major injuries, however both are expected to recover from their injuries.
While emergency services, which also included the quick first response from the Willow Creek mine rescue and First Aid, were working to provide life saving care, the RCMP closed the highway in both directions.
Once BC Air Ambulance left the area and the highway was cleared of emergency vehicles, the highway was opened up in both directions just after 4 pm.
