A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Prince George and Quesnel regions, including rural communities along Highway 16 West and Highway 97 south of Prince George, Dunkley area. There are two separate storm cells, please read below…
The northwest-southeast line of thunderstorms is located 30 km west of Quesnel and is moving northeast at about 20 km/h. The southernmost cell will reach the communities along highway 16 between Prince George and Quesnel in 75 minutes.
The northernmost storm will reach the communities along Highway 16 between Prince George in 60 minutes.
Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops.
