CLINTON, BC: The RCMP and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a single vehicle crash that sadly claimed the life of a woman Sunday morning south of Clinton…

Police say on July 25, 2021 shortly after 11:30 AM, officers were called by BC Emergency Health Services crews who were responding to a report that a passenger vehicle had veered off Highway 97 and was sinking in 6-Mile Lake.

Officers arrived on scene to find bystanders performing CPR on an unresponsive adult woman, who was reportedly an occupant of the motor vehicle, which had already slipped beneath the water’s surface.

A second occupant of the vehicle, who survived the crash, has been identified as a man in his 30’s. He was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services as a precaution.

On July 27, 2021, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team deployed to the region. Divers located the wreckage of the red pickup truck approximately 33-feet below the water’s surface. With the assistance of a towing company police pulled the vehicle from 6-Mile Lake.

If you witnessed this crash, you observed the pickup truck prior to the incident, or you have any additional information that may aid in the investigation you are asked to call the Clinton RCMP at 250-459-2221.
