Effective at noon today, the City of Prince George is banning the use of all fireworks and all open burning in Prince George, including campfires, due to the increasing fire risk from the on-going heatwave. The ban will remain in place until further notice.

Propane and natural gas fire pits are allowed, but wood burning fire pits are not permitted.

The City of Prince George Fire Protection and Emergency Response Bylaw gives the Fire Chief the authority to institute this ban in the interest of public safety.

On Monday, the Province of BC announced a province-wide campfire ban for British Columbia starting at noon today.
