FRASER LAKE, BC: A pilot was able to get out of the plane he was flying after it crashed shortly takeoff on Sunday…

Police say on April 25, 2021 at 7:00 PM, Fraser Lake RCMP responded to a call of a float plane crash on the west end of Fraser Lake.

Several residents in the area reported seeing the AME Piper PA-12 on floats crash into the lake shortly after takeoff.

The pilot, and sole occupant was able to get out of the plane but remained in the water until a resident in a private boat was able to rescue him from the lake taking him to shore.

The pilot, a 73-year-old man was taken to hospital for medical treatment. SAR was called out to assist and Transportation Safety Board (TSB) was contacted. The TSB is investigating the cause of the crash.

ENBC, Regional District, and Ministry of Environment have all been notified due to potential
of fuel spill in Fraser Lake.
