PRINCE GEORGE, BC: A few dozen businesses in the BCR Site are without water this afternoon following a large water main break. The break occurred early this afternoon in a 35cm pipe in the 8200 block of Willow Cale Road.

The break destabilized part of the road and crews have shut down vehicle access on either side of Willow Cale as a precaution. Emergency vehicle access is still available.

The cause of the ruptured line, which was installed in 1985, is not yet known. A repair operation is underway and expected to take until tomorrow morning for crews to complete and for water service to be restored to the affected businesses. The City has not received any reports of flooded structures.

Residents who experience cloudy water once service is restored are asked to run taps until the water runs clear.

The City of Prince George appreciates the patience and understanding of residents while this important repair operation is conducted and for driving cautiously around road crews and equipment.
