DAWSON CREEK, BC: Two drivers are in serious condition following a vehicle crash on the Alaska Highway north of Dawson Creek Tuesday morning…
Police say at around 9:35 AM, emergency crews responded to the crash involving two semi-trucks on the Alaska Highway near the 239 Road.
When crews arrived on scene to render aid to the involved drivers, both were trapped inside their vehicles. One of the involved drivers, a male in his 30’s, sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. The other involved driver, a male 49yrs of age, required extrication from the vehicle and received serious, life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the quick action of attending first responders; whom worked together to render emergency life-saving first-aid, it is anticipated that both drivers will survive.
The resulting investigation determined environmental conditions to be primary factors in the collision. Road conditions were icy and slippery, strong cross winds were identified to be contributing factors.
The Alaska Highway will remain closed for investigation and cleanup. As of the writing of this report, the Alaska Highway will remain closed until 4 pm MST. Check DriveBC.ca for the latest highway closure information.
