PRINCE GEORGE, BC: Police are asking for the public’s help after a home was gutted by fire last Thursday…

Police say just after 7:00 AM on Thursday, January 14, 2021, Mounties attended a residence on the 2100 block of Norwood Street to assist Prince George Fire Services with a residential fire.

When members arrived, they observed the entire residence was on fire. The sole occupant, the homeowner, was able to exit the residence before emergency services arrived. A pet had to be rescued from the burning home while another pet made it out with the homeowner.

A fire investigator from the Prince George RCMP attended the scene as the City Fire Investigators believed the cause of the fire to be suspicious. Examination of the residence showed investigators that the fire started outside of the residence. At this time, investigators believe the fire is the result of arson.

The Prince George RCMP encourage residents in the surrounding area to contact police if they saw or heard anything suspicious Thursday morning that could further the investigation of this fire.

The investigation is ongoing.
