WILLIAMS LAKE, BC: On Tuesday, Sept 15, 2020, at 5:59 PM, officers were called to a report of a crash involving a Nissan Versa and a CN Rail Train at a marked rail crossing…

Police say the vehicle was southbound on the Soda Creek Town Site Road when the driver crossed a stop sign controlled rail crossing, colliding with an eastbound train.

The collision caused the vehicle to roll ejecting the driver from the vehicle. The driver was pronounced deceased.

The train consisted of 29 rail cars including three engines and no derailment took place. CN Police have been notified and are assisting with the investigation. The Soda Creek Town Site Road and the CN Rail track were closed for almost four hours.

BC Coroners Service, who has conduct of the investigation, are conducting a parallel investigation to determine cause of death. The driver was from Williams Lake.

The RCMP and BC Coroners Service have no further information at this time.
