PRINCE GEORGE, BC: A man has succumbed to serious injury after being rescued from the Fraser River during the overnight…

Police say just before 1:00 AM on Thursday April 23, 2020, the Prince George RCMP received a call from a concerned motorist who witnessed a man jump from the Simon Fraser Bridge in Prince George.

Multiple frontline officers attended the scene and various points along the Fraser River. Just after 2:00 AM, an officer saw the male in the river and heard him yelling near the Creekside subdivision, approximately five kilometres from the bridge.

Cst. Stu Love entered the river, swam approximately 25 metres to the male and pulled him back to shore. The man was transported to hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries including hypothermia.

Unfortunately, just before 4:00 AM, the male had passed away.

At this time, the identity of the man remains unknown. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300.
