VANDERHOOF, BC: Police have made an arrest in the homicide case of Joy Morris…

Back on March 9, 2020, officers responded to a check well-being call to a home in Vanderhoof.

Upon attendance to the residence, officers located Joy Morris, 62, deceased. The subsequent investigation determined that Ms. Morris’ death was the result of a homicide.

The BC RCMP North District Major Crime Unit took conduct of the investigation with assistance from the BC RCMP South East RCMP Major Crime Unit, Vanderhoof RCMP Detachment, Penticton RCMP Detachment and the Prince George RCMP Forensic Identification Section.

On Friday April 10, 2020, investigators arrested Justin Johnston, 42, for the murder of Ms. Morris. Johnston was arrested in the South Okanagan where he had recently moved.

Both Johnston and Morris were known to each other and police do not believe there to be further risk to the greater public. Johnston was remanded in custody and will made an appearance in court, via video, earlier today.
