SMITHERS, BC: One person has died following a single vehicle incident involving a logging truck…
Police say on December 20 just before noon, RCMP received a report of a logging truck that had gone over an embankment on the 5000 Rd, approximately 100 km from Smithers.
Smithers RCMP frontline members attended the scene along with BC Ambulance and members of the Smithers Fire Department. Upon arrival, it appeared that the loaded logging truck had rolled while navigating a curve.
Initial investigations indicate that the truck navigated the curve but the trailer continued sliding into the corner and went down the embankment, pulling the cab of the truck over with the trailer.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was deceased on scene when emergency crews arrived.
The investigation is continuing as WorkSafe BC and the BC Coroners Service are involved.
