Fatal pedestrian incident under investigation in Fraser Lake…

FRASER LAKE, BC: A local Fraser Lake senior has died following a vehicle vs. pedestrian incident this morning in Fraser Lake, a community west of Vanderhoof.

Police say at around 8 AM, officers responded to a report of a body found on a road behind the local shopping mall near Endako Ave. in Fraser Lake.

When police arrived, members located a 66 year-old resident deceased. Evidence suggested that the man was struck by a commercial vehicle. Further investigation led police to identify the vehicle involved and it has been seized by RCMP for forensic examination. The driver, owner/operator is cooperating with RCMP.

“While the investigation continues, causal factors have yet to be determined,” said Sgt Jason Rumming, NCO i/c Fraser Lake RCMP. “Police can confirm that alcohol was not involved.”

The RCMP would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area of the shopping mall and along Endako Ave between 7:30 to 8:00 AM and may have dashcam footage to call police.
