Snow is set to move into the Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge and Dawson Creek areas Thursday night. The heaviest snow, approximately 15 cm, is expected for Tumbler Ridge. Chetwynd and Dawson Creek could see between 5 to 10 cm.
For the Cariboo region… A Special Weather Statement has been issued due to strong wind that is forecast from Quesnel south to 100 Mile House. Wind gusts up to 80 km/h.
PRINCE GEORGE REGION
For the PG region, up to 30 mm of rain is expected between Thursday and Friday. Rain mixed with snow is also forecast for tonight and into Friday along with wind gusts up to 60 km/h Drive safe!!
Snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 15 cm is expected.
A low pressure centre will move into the central interior tonight bringing precipitation to the B.C. South Peace River region. Rain will begin this evening and change to snow overnight. The highest snowfall amounts are expected near Tumbler Ridge where 15 cm of snow is forecast by Friday evening while Dawson Creek and Chetwynd can expect about 5 cm of snow.
Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
Be prepared for strong winds tonight and Friday.
SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
A developing Pacific low pressure system is forecast to cross the central interior overnight. The associated cold front will then sweep across the southern interior on Friday reaching Washington State in the evening.
Strong southerly winds will develop ahead of the low tonight and then shift to west or northwest on Friday. Wind gusts up to 70 km/h are expected except gusts to 80 km/h or more are possible for Chilcotin, Cariboo – south including Williams Lake, 100 Mile and Fraser Canyon.
