PRINCE GEORGE, BC: One person has died following a house fire over the weekend…
Police say on Saturday October 12, 2019 at approximately 9:15 PM, emergency services including the Prince George RCMP received a report of an explosion and subsequent fire at a residence on Chilako Drive in Prince George.
Frontline officers arrived within minutes and found a house fully engulfed in flames. Officers provided emergency care to the injured and evacuated nearby residences.
Four adult males were transported to hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the fire. It is believed that everyone made it out of the residence, however one dog did not survive.
A 40 year-old Prince George man died in hospital as a result of the fire. The three others are expected to survive.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and therefore the scene has been secured. Witnesses and video evidence indicate the occupants of the residence were handling large quantities of gasoline.
This morning, RCMP fire investigators will be on scene with members of the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Section to gather evidence to help determine whether this incident was criminal in nature.
This residence is well known to police and has been the subject of police investigations in the past. Further updates will be provided as the investigation develops.
