A massive thunderstorm woke many residents of Prince George and surrounding areas just after 11 pm Tuesday night.
Environment Canada issued a Thunderstorm Warning at 11:14 pm Tuesday night and within 8 minutes the heavy rain, intense lightning and strong gusty winds unleashed a night time monster. Approximately 11 mm of rain fell within 10 minutes as the storm tracked north to the Salmon Valley and Nukko Lake areas around Hwy 97.
Waking up Wednesday morning, street sweepers were out busy cleaning the mess of tree branches and other tree debris from city roads.
The good news is the sun is expected later this afternoon but poses a risk for more light thunderstorms.
