PRINCE GEORGE, BC: A Police Incident on Hwy 97 has resulted in the arrest of two suspects…
The incident began late this morning near Pilot Mountain, Chief Lake Road area of Prince George. A residential alarm call came in around 9:45 AM, and officers attended the rural home and confirmed that a break & enter had occurred and a firearm and ammunition had been stolen. No suspects were found on the property but a post to social media by the homeowner suggests the suspects left the area armed.
At approximately 11:00 AM, officers located the suspect vehicle in the area of the break & enter. The vehicle fled southbound on Highway 97. Approximately 15 minutes later, the vehicle was located by an officer heading northbound on Hwy 97 near Knell Road and attempted to stop then vehicle. A collision occurred and both suspects fled the vehicle, one armed with a gun.
A short time later, officers spotted the suspects and attempted to make an arrest. One officer fired a single shot during the interaction but no one was hurt.
Highway 97 remains closed as investigators gather evidence from the scene. There are detours in place or you can use Foothills Blvd to access the Hart. Expect delays.
As a result of this incident, the Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO BC) were contacted and briefed. They will not be asserting jurisdiction.
