PRINCE GEORGE, BC: A Prince George man is facing charges after smashing into a vehicle and a fence on Massey Dr. and Ospika Blvd Saturday afternoon…
Police say at approximately 3:30 PM, calls began coming in of a driver being reckless on Massey Dr. and Ospika Blvd. Members of the public provided updates to police as frontline officers were enroute.
The vehicle eventually came to rest near the intersection of Massey Drive and Opie Crescent after both front wheels deflated when it struck the curb. The adult male driver fled on foot but didn’t get far thanks to the public who kept an eye on the suspect. The 50 year-old man was detained and taken into custody after failing a number of sobriety tests and was found to be impaired by a drug.
Further investigation found that the vehicle was uninsured and displaying licence plates that belonged to another vehicle. The suspect was also prohibited from driving at the time of the incidents.
The man was released on a Promise to Appear for court at a later date. He was issued a 24 hour suspension, along with a violation ticket and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. No injuries were reported. The investigation is continuing.
