Police say at approximately 4:30 PM, RCMP and Emergency Services attended the crash scene. A 5-ton service truck was stopped at the 271 Road waiting to turn left onto the Alaska Highway when it was rear-ended by a Toyota pickup.
Evidence suggests the driver of the Toyota, a 76 year old local man, had significant pre-collision braking before colliding with the service truck. The driver of the pickup died in hospital. The driver of the service truck was not injured.
Peace Region Traffic Services, the RCMP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service and the BC Coroners Service are continuing to investigate the cause of this crash.
