PRINCE GEORGE, BC: Two men, one from Prince George, have been charged in an Police incident that occurred in December 2018 which involved a few police departments…
Police say Michael RICKETT, 30, and Daniel WEBSTER, 32, from Prince George, was seen driving a pickup truck hauling a jet boat through McBride last December. A frontline officer thought it was a bit suspicious to be hauling a jet boat as winter was about to begin. The McBride RCMP attempted to pull the truck over but the suspect driver had other plans to flee and police did not pursue. Valemount RCMP was contacted to help stop the truck but could not stop it in time as the vehicle made another dangerous getaway.
Police learned the boat and truck were stolen out of Alberta. The situation lasted all night as the two suspects made their way to the Kamloops area. A Police Service Dog team from Prince George and Kamloops tracked the suspects to Clearwater, BC, where they were eventually arrested.
WEBSTER was held in custody for 291 days and was sentenced to an additional 8-month jail term. Upon release he will be on a year probation and a 5-year Criminal Driving Prohibition.
The conviction includes charges from McBride as well as numerous charges from Calgary Alberta. RICKETT is scheduled to appear in BC Provincial Court in McBride on Friday June 7 2019 to answer to 3 counts of Possession of Stolen Property over $5000.
