PRINCE GEORGE, BC: This week, contracted crews will begin the City’s capital road and sidewalk rehabilitation projects for the 2019 paving season. Over 40 lane kilometres of road and sidewalk is scheduled for rehabilitation this year.
This year’s largest road project is expected to be an operation on Foothills Blvd just south of Highland Drive, with three lanes (almost five lane kilometres in total) scheduled for paving. The largest sidewalk operation is expected to be along the south side of Highland Drive, from Berwick to Glenngarry Road.
Two new sidewalks are also being constructed this year on 2nd Avenue from Ospika to Quinn Street, and on 22nd Avenue from Highway 97 to the entrance to CNC. Last week, crews began rehabilitating a section of sidewalk on the north side of 15th Avenue near the intersection with Ospika Blvd.
The year’s first road rehabilitation projects are as follows:
- Emerald Drive from Nordic Drive to Diamond Drive
- Diamond Drive from Nordic Drive to Jade Drive
- Jade Drive from Chestnut Drive to Emerald Drive
- Taft Drive from Eden Drive to Glenview Drive
All of these projects are anticipated to be completed by the end of the week, but are dependent upon the weather. Please refer to the attached maps for the complete lists of road and sidewalk rehabilitation projects for 2019 and their exact locations.
Motorists are advised to look for alternate routes whenever possible and to drive with caution around road crews.
