KITIMAT, BC: A workplace incident south of Kitimat has resulted in the death of a Terrace man…
Kitimat RCMP were called to a work place fatality on the late afternoon of Thursday, April 18, 2019. The incident occurred at a remote logging operation, south of Kitimat on the Douglas Channel near Eagle Bay.
The Kitimat RCMP, BC Coroner’s Service and WorkSafe BC attended the scene and located a 46 year-old man, deceased. The man appeared to have been struck by a tree and succumbed to his injuries.
The location of the fatality was very remote and extremely difficult to access. Police would like to thank partners, like RCMSAR, who are volunteers, as well as the man’s co-workers for their efforts and professionalism.
The incident is still under investigation and no further information is available at this time other than the RCMP are not treating the incident as suspicious.
Kitimat RCMP understand that losing a relative, friend, co-worker unexpectedly is not easy and those suffering from such loss are encouraged to reach out and speak to family or friends.
