Suspect driver caught and charged…

PRINCE GEORGE, BC: One man is in custody and facing several charges following a police incident that began in Quesnel on Sunday afternoon…

Police say at around 2:30 PM, officers from Quesnel received a report of a stolen vehicle from a business parking lot. Officers located the stolen vehicle heading towards Prince George o Hwy 97 a short time later and made an attempt to put it over. The suspect fled at a high rate of speed and officers did not pursue.

Officers from Prince George were then notifed that a stolen pickup was possibly headed towards PG. The RCMP launched the Air 3 chopper and located a vehicle matching the description 30 kilometres south of Red Rock. The suspect driver fled from officers once again and was heading into PG city limits.

Just before 4:00 PM, multiple General Duty officers intercepted the vehicle near the southwest end of Massey Drive in Prince George. While attempting to evade police, a collision occurred between the stolen vehicle and a marked police car.

The driver and lone occupant was arrested without further incident. Alcohol was a factor. As a precaution, the suspect was transported to hospital to be checked by medical personnel. No police officers were injured.
