WILLIAMS LAKE, BC: Free gas, it’s easy to get! That’s what thieves in Williams Lake are saying…
The Williams Lake RCMP has recently received numerous reports of stolen fuel cards from fleet vehicles.
Fuel thieves are targeting fleet vehicles such as taxis and commercial vehicles states Cst. KOOGER, media relations for the Williams Lake RCMP.
Unfortunately, in all instances, the PIN# for the fuel card is either written on, or near the fuel card. In a few cases the PIN# has been written on the vehicles sun visor right next to the card.
Thieves will then take the card to a local gas card lock. Police say that some of the gas charges are in excess of $2,000. It is likely thieves are filling up tidy tanks.
Fleet drivers should treat their fuel cards like a credit card and keep it safe.
