PRINCE GEORGE, BC: On Monday, January 14, 2019 at approximately 6 PM, Prince George Regional Traffic Services and emergency services responded to a fatal collision involving four vehicles on Highway 16 near Shanley Road, approximately 10 kilometres east of Vanderhoof, BC.
Upon arrival it was determined that an eastbound Ford SUV crossed the center line and collided head-on with a west bound loaded fuel tanker truck and two other vehicles following behind the tanker truck. The female driver of the Ford SUV was deceased at the scene. The occupants of the other vehicles involved only suffered minor injuries. Fortunately, there was no fuel spillage from the tanker truck. The road surface was slippery and foggy at the time of the collision and the temperature was below freezing.
Prince George Regional Traffic Services (Vanderhoof), the BC Coroners’ Service, Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement branch and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service continue to investigate the cause of this collision. The highway was closed until approximately 5:00 AM (January 15) and is now open to traffic.
