Fatal Collision on Trans Canada Highway near Salmon Arm…

SALMON ARM, BC: On September 01, 2018 at approximately 15:40 hours PST, Salmon Arm Detachment, Trans Canada East Traffic Services, EHS and Fire emergency services personnel responded to a three vehicle collision at the intersection of the Trans Canada Highway #1 and Balmoral Road in Blind Bay.

The collision involved a northbound BC plated Chevrolet Cavalier passenger vehicle and a westbound BC plated Moto Guzzi motorcycle. The 69 year old male driver of the motorcycle from Kamloops, BC was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 63 year old female passenger of the motorcycle and wife of the deceased was air lifted to Royal Inland Hospital after sustaining serious injuries. The female driver of the Chevrolet was transported to the Shuswap Lake General Hospital with non life threatening injuries. The Highway was closed in both directions for four hours to conduct the investigation.

Members of the Trans Canada East Traffic Services unit continue to investigate the cause of this collision and are assisting the B.C. Coroners Service.
