Last night heavy equipment worked to build machine guard around the small excursion that occurred in the southwest corner and will continue to do so today. They are also building a contingency guard from the southwest to the southeast.

Yesterday the planned burn operation was completed successfully in the southeast and if conditions permit, a burn is planned for the south. This burn may not go ahead due to current poor visibility as a result of smoke.

Crews will mop up to 50 feet in the southwest and southeast and continue to patrol this area. They will also be mopping-up and patrolling in the northwest and northeast.

Today, aerial support has been limited as a result of poor visibility due to smoke.

The weather forecast is sunny with smoke increasing in the afternoon. After 6pm, there is a chance of local cloud with the risk of dry lightning strikes in the area from mid to late evening. Light winds becoming E-SE 10 to 15 km/hr near mid-day. Winds are expected to change to S-SE 15km/hr with gust of 25km/hr in the late afternoon. Winds will shift to NW 20 km/hr with gusts of 40 km/hr behind the expected cold front. Temperature high of 28 degrees Celsius.

The fire behaviour today has the chance to challenge established control lines (guards).
