Billy Barker Weekend in Quesnel…

QUESNEL, BC: Police in Quesnel saw an increase in activity during the Billy Barker Day Weekend compared to that of 2016…

Between 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 19 until Monday, July 23 at 6:00 AM, Quesnel RCMP responded to the following:

  • 173 calls for service
  • 33 people were arrested for causing a disturbance or being intoxicated and unable to care for themselves in public
  • 15 people were arrested for other criminal code offences
  • 1 man was arrested for assaulting two police officers
  • 49 people were held in cells
  • 6 Immediate Roadside Prohibitions for alcohol related offences were issued

In Comparison to the same time period over Billy Barker Days in 2016:

  • 149 calls for service
  • 33 people were arrested for causing a disturbance or being intoxicated and unable to care for themselves in public
  • 5 people were arrested for other criminal code offences
  • 38 people were held in cells
  • 4 Immediate Roadside Prohibitions for alcohol related offences were issued

Quesnel RCMP members would like to thank those who planned ahead and arranged for safe rides home and responsibly enjoyed themselves over the weekend.
