TERRACE, BC: Two people were sent to hospital and one man is in police custody following multiple reports of a possible impaired driver.
Around 10 PM on June 27, Terrace RCMP responded to reports of an erratic, possibly impaired driver, running stop signs, driving on the wrong side of the road, and exhibiting other dangerous driving behaviour.
Police located the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Queensway Drive and crossing the line into oncoming traffic.
Due to concern for public safety a police pursuit was initiated. The vehicle, described as a grey SUV, eventually collided with an electrical pole on Crescent Street in Thornhill, resulting in a power outage for the surrounding area.
Three people were in the vehicle and two were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One man is in police custody and will be held for court.
RCMP from the provincial collision analysis unit remain on scene as part of the investigation.
More details will be released as they become available.
